ROLE: Co-Director and Editor

SYNOPSIS: Through parallel narratives, a Black activist from the height of the Civil Rights Movement in Seattle and one from the 2020 uprisings embark on journeys of self-discovery and their relationship to activism. As they navigate the challenges and sacrifices of their respective eras, their stories converge to redefine the enduring essence of Black youth activism, illuminating the timeless fight for justice.

The concept for Very Sincerely Yours, was created by Mawahib Ismail in Spring 2022 during a short documentary production class taught at the University of Washington (UW) by Warren Etheredge. The original idea was to compare the 1968 and 2020 protests and demands at UW. The first iteration of the short doc was created, written, filmed, and edited in about 5 weeks. Since that class, it has been reworked on and updated with more footage. The various footage from iPhones, DSLR cameras, and scanned images was edited together using DaVinci Resolve.
